Counselling is a powerful and effective form of treatment for many mental health issues. It can give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.
Through the use of psychotherapy, you can gain insight into your issues and develop the tools necessary to make positive changes in your life. It can also provide support in times of crisis, helping you to cope with difficult emotions and to make healthier decisions. Siobhan is only insured to see clients who are 16 years and over.
A word from Siobhan Farragher BSc (Hons) Psychology, MA Counselling and Psychotherapy:
Hi! My name is Siobhán Farragher BSc (Hons) MA. I am a caring and dedicated integrative counsellor passionate about guiding individuals through life's challenges. My journey into counselling is a deeply personal one; I've sat on the other side of the counselling room, facing my own struggles. This first hand experience taught me the courage it takes to seek help and the transformative power of empathetic support. It's this understanding that fuels my commitment to helping others navigate their own paths to healing and growth.
I am an integrative counsellor meaning, I blend various therapeutic approaches to tailor sessions to your unique needs. These techniques are, but not limited to, CBT, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. This means I don't just offer a one-size-fits-all solution; instead, I collaborate with you, drawing from diverse methods to provide a customised and holistic counselling experience. My approach is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, creating a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely.
I understand that every individual has unique experiences and challenges. That’s why I tailor my therapy services to meet the specific needs of each client. Through a collaborative and empathic approach, I work with you to identify your goals and develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
Siobhan’s Story
Why I Became a Counsellor
My passion for counselling stems from a genuine desire to empower others. I firmly believe that everyone possesses the strength to overcome their own obstacles; sometimes, they just need someone to walk with them on that journey. Having completed a BSc (Hons) Psychology and an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, I bring a rich academic background and work experience to my practice.
What Sets Me Apart
As an integrative counsellor, I blend various therapeutic approaches to tailor sessions to your unique needs. This means I don't just offer a one-size-fits-all solution; instead, I collaborate with you, drawing from diverse methods to provide a customised and holistic counselling experience. My approach is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, creating a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely.
My Professional Journey
I have worked extensively with diverse communities, including individuals with neurological conditions and clients facing various challenges. My past experience includes being a Volunteer Counsellor at The Brain Charity where I provided emotional and psychological support to individuals who are neurodiverse or suffering from a neurological condition (e.g, Traumatic Brain Injury), empowering them to make informed decisions around their well-being. I also shared some of my experience in a Family Resource Centre where I fine-tuned my crisis intervention skills and worked with clients as young as 16 years old. Alongside this, I previously volunteered at Childline which allowed me to support children and teenagers through sensitive issues, fostering resilience and hope.
